Photography Studio and Historic Rehab in Old Town Helena, AL

I am more than a little excited about my latest project in Helena, AL! My two passions of real estate and photography have collided and the result can be found in Old Town Helena on 2nd Street. Fixing up a historic home and turning it into my photography studio has been a dream come true! I couldn't have found a better location with the history and small town atmosphere provided there. Even more exciting is the addition of two extremely talented photographers and a lovable studio manager! I use the term "lovable" because in one of our conversations on the phone I ended it with "love ya" by mistake. I was multi-tasking by emailing with my husband while talking to her. I do love her though, and you will too if you're lucky enough to meet her. :)

As of April 1, 2015, Heather Mishea Photography and Kim Poskey, our lovable studio manager, moved in to offer their services to Helena, AL and surrounding areas. Heather specializes in high school senior photography and Kim specializes in keeping Heather and I organized with the business side of photography. I am honored to share this dream of mine with these beautiful young ladies!

This summer, we will be announcing a new partner at the studio so stay tuned!!

Also, we plan to have our doors open to the public on the first Friday of most months during Helena's First Friday events so stop by and say hello!  Read more about this event at here.

Heather's office and meeting space...

I am in love with the artwork below which hangs next to my vintage camera collection. When I saw it on etsy, I had to have it! Not just because I love old cameras, but because this statement was posted on my original website in 2010. It means even more to me now, and you'll see why if you scroll to the last photo in this post;)

I found a wonderful photo in the Helena Museum of my "new" studio. I am not sure when it was taken, but clearly dates the house to being much older than 1930 which is when it must have been moved to Helena. It is pictured below in its original location on a farm in Alabaster / Silura, AL. The owner, also pictured below, built this home soon after he married in 1866. He passed away in 1912.

I may or may not have squealed when I saw this jewel! The original owners are buried in the Roy Cemetery not far from where the home now sits. This just proves that PHOTOS ARE PRICELESS! I am so excited that this one was preserved.
